GUARD, Lawrence
1940 ~2025
Cherished Husband, Father and Grandfather, Lawrence ‘Larry’ Robert Guard, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the age of 85 years.
Beloved husband and best friend to Lois (nee Goldsney) Guard. Proud father to Lyle (Sarah) Guard and Laurie Guard-Husband. Adoring Papa to Ella, Alexandra, Ryann and Charlie. Brother and “collaborator” with Verle (Gloria) Guard.
Predeceased by his parents, James Gordon Guard and Marvel Elizabeth Guard, his brothers Jim and Stan, his sister, Clarice; and his son-in-law, Graham Husband.
A faithful member of Sundre Gospel Centre since his move to Sundre, Alberta in 1970, Larry was devoted to his faith. A pilot with a love of flying, he would often stop to look at airplanes overhead, still with the excitement and wonder of his childhood. He was an accomplished musician and could be found playing bass guitar most Sunday mornings during worship service, with his brothers in the family living room, or his band, The Sundowners.
A Celebration of Larry’s Life was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Sundre Gospel Centre, 810 1 Street NE, Sundre, Alberta at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Encore in Olds, Alberta for their care, support and kind words about Larry.
A long life and a job well done. While we will miss your spirit, integrity, humor and wisdom; we will carry on as you have always shown us.
