Mrs. Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Mary Fansher (nee McLachlan) passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on
Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 79 years. Betty was born on March 18, 1944, at Forres,
Scotland to Jim and Edith McLachlan (nee Younie). She grew up in Glanworth, Ontario and lived with
Harry and her children in London, Ontario and Regina, Saskatchewan. They then moved to Calgary,
Alberta where they lived for over forty years and lastly, moving to Red Deer, Alberta. Betty was an
elementary school teacher after earning her Teaching Certificate from the University of Western
Ontario. Betty’s house was always full of love and laughter, where strangers turned into friends, and
friends turned into family. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Harry Fansher; her
daughter, Heather Fansher; her three grandchildren, Doug Fansher (Morgan), Dan Fansher (Hannah) and
Diane Fansher and her four great grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, Henry, and Brooklyn. She will also be
sadly missed by her brothers, Jim McLachlan of London, Ontario, Fred McLachlan of Winterbourne,
Ontario, Don McLachlan of Calgary, Alberta; and her sisters, Judy Beattie of Belmont, Ontario, and
Heather Bramley of London, Ontario; as well as numerous family members and many dear friends.
Betty was predeceased by her son, David H. Fansher and her parents, Jim and Edith McLachlan. A
Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Betty’s honor
may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com. Cremation
entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Condolences, memories and
