It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Francine McPhee on January 16, 2021 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 81 years. She was born on September 13, 1939 in Montreal, Quebec. She married and raised her family in Belleville, Ontario then later in life moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta. It was there that she met Bill and they married in 1997. They started their life in Beaverlodge, then moved back to Grande Prairie and eventually moved to Red Deer, Alberta . They spent the remainder of their time living between Niagara Falls, Ontario and Red Deer, Alberta.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill McPhee by eight days. Francine will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Al (Laurie) Brisebois, Steve (Celine) Brisebois, Chantel (Larry) Bouyers, and Lyne (Dave) Metz. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Mindy, Amanda (Sammy), Cole, Stephanie, Jennifer (Steve), Vicki, Nicole, Michelle and Sabrina, and seven great-grandchildren: Dayton, William, Joey, Taylor, Aurora, Chase, and Oliver. Francine is also survived by her stepchildren: Neil (Denia) McPhee, Marty (Lorraine) McPhee, Dan (Sheila) McPhee, Darryl (Tammy) McPhee, and Karen (Murray) Lawrence. Her grandchildren Andrew (Bonnie), Kieran (Amanda), Cayden, Lia, Darren (Crystal), Jayson (Jacqueline), Christie (Paul), Eric, William, Bethany (Nicholas), Korey, Jordan, Jeremy (Lanna), Logan (Erin), Michael, Kayla (Jeff), Cassandra, Noah, Kristin, and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Claudette. She was predeceased by her parents Alberta Cry and Gaston Bedard. Her brothers Serge, Marcel, Réal and sister Lucille.
Through her various placements of work, her love for working at Walmart as a greeter outshined them all. Even after she retired, she loved aimlessly walking around Walmart to fill her time.
Her favourite past time was dressing up to go dancing with Bill at the Legion. You could find them there dancing away every weekend. As they got older dancing slowly got replaced with going for drives. When Bill wasn’t with her, she would still go only to get lost and have to find a police officer for directions.
She always had a huge heart for animals and having lived on the farm her love for animals grew astronomically along with the number of fur babies that lived in her home. She honestly could never turn an animal away. She enjoyed spending time at Dufferin Islands feeding the ducks and birdwatching in her back yard. Even the family of skunks that came out at night to visit her on the front porch were lovingly greeted by Mom. She is now happily reunited with her passed loved fur babies.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made in Francine’s honour to an animal shelter of their choice. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
