With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Melvin Dyck, born August 5, 1939, in Vanguard Saskatchewan. Mel set off on his last Harley ride to the highway of heaven, September 21, 2025. He left behind to treasure his memories, his loving wife Dianne Mahoney-Dyck of 25 years, his children, Janet (Rick), Rob (Tara) and Merle (Donna) and his stepchildren Shawn and Shelly (Hugh). He was an awesome grandfather and great-grandfather to many. One of his biggest joys was watching the grands play sports, attend their events, and hear their laughter. Family was the most important thing to Mel, and he loved when we all got together to share a meal, have a beer and celebrate the holidays in a fierce game of bowling, a tradition we will carry on in his memory. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He had a special bond with his brother and biking partner Butch. Together they explored many highways on their Harleys.

Mel was enormously proud to have received his mechanic licence and for many years ran a garage with his brother Butch. He went on to be a hardworking and loyal trucker. He reluctantly retired at the age of 78 where he made an impact on every farmer he delivered to.
Mel’s joys in life were family, motorcycles, and horsepower. He touched the hearts of all he met.
A special thank you to all the staff at Olds hospital. They provided amazing care to Mel and treated him with kindness and respect. They brought him comfort with their smiles and friendly banter.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Olds Hospital or the Alberta Cancer Society.
Rest in Peace Mel, you will be forever loved, always treasured, and profoundly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4, 2025 from 1-6 pm at the Olds and District Evergreen Senior Centre. (5237-52 Street)
