It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Esme Lorraine Gellings (nee Warren) on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Didsbury Longterm Care Centre, at the age of 86 years.
Kathy was born in Colchester, England, in 1939 and later immigrated to Canada, making Calgary, Alberta her home. In May of 1960 Kathy married her soulmate, Leo Gellings, and together they spent the next sixty-two years building their life and family in Calgary, Vermilion, Vegreville, and eventually retiring together in Lac La Biche.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family grew over the years to include four children, eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, creating a legacy that now spans generations.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her children; Brian (Karen) Gellings, Tony (Toni) Gellings, Theresa (Jim) Kushnerick, and Sandra (Terry Muzechka) Melenka; as well as her grand children and great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her siblings; Sharon (Rod) Assmus, and Garry (Anne Margaret Vose) Hodgson.
Kathy was predeceased by her beloved husband Leo; her sister, Joan Eroshinsky and her five much-loved dachshunds who shared her home and heart over the years; Snippy, Pokey, Mindy, Taffy and Misty.
Kathy will be deeply missed by the family members and friends whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on through the family she built, the generations that followed her, and the many stories and memories they will continue to share.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Didsbury Longterm Care Centre, as well the staff at Aspen Ridge Lodge, Didsbury for the exceptional care Kathy received while residing there.
