1939 ~ In Loving Memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’ Glenn (nee Walker) ~ 2020
Posted Sep 28, 2020 | 3:28 PM
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’ Glenn (nee Walker) of Innisfail, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Rosefield Centre on Monday, September 14, 2020 at the age of 81 years. Mom was born in Calgary, Alberta to William and Edith Walker. She was raised in the Acme, Beiseker, and Calgary areas. Mom was really close to her mother; as she was the youngest of four children. By the time she was born, the other siblings had moved out on their own. Mom met our dad around 1955 to 1956, and later moved to the Innisfail area; where they eventually settled down, after a couple of moves to Spruce View, Olds and Airdrie. Mom enjoyed working with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion for many years. She always loved to cook and bake for people; whether it was family, friends, or strangers, and she could cook! While we children were growing up, mom always cooked extra for all of our friends that would “accidentally” drop by at dinner time. The door was always open to anyone that needed a meal, or a place to stay. Our friend’s parents knew that if their children were at Mom and Dad’s, that they would be safe and fed. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, her son, Dale (Tammy), her daughter, Laurie, her son, Norman, her son, Dennis (Lisa), her grandchildren, Trisha (Kelly), Christopher, Lucas, Matt, Kass (Rhian), Paige (Lance), Bodie, Sam and Cree and her great grandchildren, Gjoa and Aria, and her brother, Ron (Joan) Walker. She will also be sadly missed by her special friends, Marg and Del Fehr and Gerry Thomson. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Bill Glenn, a son Billy, her parents, William and Edith Walker, Wilfred and Madeline Glenn, a brother, Ted and a sister, Ruth Toews. The family would like to give a huge thank you to Marg and Del Fehr, the Autumn Glen Lodge, the Rosefield Centre and the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion Staff, for all the kindness they showed to mom over the years. Due to Covid restrictions, a Private Family Service for Betty will be held. A Public Funeral Service will be held at a later date, for friends and family to attend. If desired, Memorial Donations in Betty’s honor may be made directly to The Lung Association of Alberta, P.O Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 6K2 or at www.ab.lung.ca.
