1939 ~ George Tyler ~ 2026 "George will be remembered for his humour, his warmth, and his unwavering devotion to his family. He is now at peace, reunited with his son, and free from pain. It is with heavy hearts, but deep peace, that we share that George Tyler has gone home — reunited with his son David and finally free from suffering. George passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in England, on May 17, 1939. George was one of ten children, and he carried the stories of that big, lively household with him his whole life — the mischief, the sibling rivalries, the endless tricks he and his brothers and sisters played on one another. He loved to tell those stories, and he told them well, because at his core George was a jokester. Quick with a laugh, quicker with a comeback, and always ready to wind someone up just to see their reaction. He was deeply proud of earning his engineering degree with honours, a milestone he talked about often — especially the ice cream his mom would treat him to whenever he brought home good grades. That mix of hard work and a sweet reward seemed to capture George perfectly: a man who took pride in doing things well but never took himself too seriously. George’s grandchildren adored him, and he adored them right back — happily letting them dress him up in princess dresses without a single complaint, because if it made them laugh, he was all in. He had his own particular logic about food (potato chips counted as a vegetable, in his book) and his own particular arrangement with chores (he “didn’t do dishes,” and yet, somehow, the dishes always got done). He loved a good cup of tea, and there was nothing George enjoyed more than hollering “Women, where’s my tea?” across the house — then ducking for cover and laughing as Vera rolled her eyes and swatted him away. George is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vera; his granddaughter, Leah, and her husband Sterling; his great-grandchildren, Sophie and Jace, who he adored without limit; and his daughter-in-law, Tracey, and her husband Barry, who he loved and considered family in every sense, long after his son’s passing. George will be remembered for his humour, his warmth, and his unwavering devotion to his family. He is now at peace, reunited with his son, and free from pain. His laughter, his stories, and his love will live on in everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and forever loved. A Family Celebration of George’s Life will be held at a later date.
