It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Sylvestor Dmetro “Syl” Dolinski, on Sunday, March 1, 2026 after a brief illness in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 88 years. We remember Syl for his willingness to always help others, his incredible work ethic, and his sense of humor and practical jokes. He loved finding bargains at auctions, was a voracious reader and had a sweet tooth. Syl was born in Willingdon, Alberta to Tony and Anne Dolinski. He left Willingdon at age 16 years and made his way north to the Peace River area where he met the love of his life, Claire Fortier. They spent 65 wonderful years together. He worked in the oil patch most of his career and successfully operated his own oil service company in Devon, Alberta. Syl and Claire traveled extensively and lived in Saudi Arabia for 5 years where they formed many great friendships with other ex-pats from all over the world. Syl is pre-deceased by his parents, Tony Dolinski and Anne Uglanica; brothers John, Russell, and Mike Dolinski; sisters Lydia Zukiwski and Mary Anne Hamaliuk, He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Claire; brothers Randy and Alan Uglanica; children Ron (Ursula) Dolinski, Wendy (Todd) Owre, Dan (Sally Jo) Dolinski; grandchildren Kristina, Andrea, Mackenzie, Steven, Abigayle, Jace, Mykah, 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
