It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Sheila Melrose Fagan on August 1, 2026. Sheila was born on June 16, 1938, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community member whose love touched so many lives.

On October 19, 1957, Sheila married Dale Fagan. Together they built a life farming east of Bowden, where they raised their four children: James, George, Michael, and Tara. The farm was more than a place to live, it was where a lifetime of memories were made and where the values of hard work, love, and family were passed from one generation to the next.

Sheila lived with a quiet steadiness, the kind that never sought attention or praise. She didn’t need recognition for the countless ways she gave of herself. Her greatest joy, her deepest purpose, and her proudest legacy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They weren’t simply part of her life, they were her life. Every decision she made and every act of kindness reflected the love she had for her family.

Professionally, Sheila was a talented hairdresser who served the people of Bowden and the surrounding area for many years. She took great pride in becoming a perm technician for Zotos, representing Western Canada. Her work allowed her to connect with people, and she was known not only for her skill but also for the warmth and genuine care she showed to everyone who sat in her chair.

Her love for children extended far beyond her own family. Sheila spent many years volunteering at the school, helping with drama productions, teaching dance lessons, and assisting with the Graduation Grand March. She believed in encouraging young people, celebrating their accomplishments, and helping them build confidence. Her generosity of time and spirit enriched the lives of countless children in her community.

Community was deeply important to Sheila. As a proud member of the Summit Ladies Aid, she treasured fellowship, lifelong friendships, and opportunities to serve others. She had a lifelong love of music, enjoyed playing the piano, loved to dance, and found great joy singing in the church choir. Sheila also loved opening her home to neighbors and friends, where cups of coffee, card games, and many sing-alongs created treasured memories filled with laughter and connection.

Family was always at the center of Sheila’s world. She was the biggest supporter her family could have asked for. Whether it was a hockey game, an early morning practice, a school concert, or any special event, you could count on Sheila being there. Her presence in the stands or the audience wasn’t just expected—it was cherished. She showed her love simply by showing up, time and time again.

Sheila was predeceased by her beloved husband Dale, son James, mother Hazel Green, siblings Bill Vinie and Lila Wollman. Sheila is survived by her children George, Mike (Karen) Tara (Larry), her grandchildren Liam and Rory Fagan and Randon (Mia), Ryley, Kaiden (Jaycee) Rankin and her great grandchildren Sutton, Tali and Briggs Rankin. A Celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at the Bowden Paterson Community Hall on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
