Roy Edward Bigelow was born December 24th 1938 to Everard “Ed” and Emma Bigelow. The twelfth of thirteen children, Roy spent his childhood in Sundre, AB on the family farm before moving to Calgary at the age of fifteen to work with his older brothers in their taxi business. In 1970 he married Valerie Jenkins and had two sons, choosing to settle in Olds, AB until his death on February 5th 2026.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren and sisters Alice Broadhurst, Eva (Frank) Jenish and numerous nieces and nephews.
