Mrs. Bernice Mary Ann Dazé died peacefully at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 87 years, surrounded by her loving family. By the age of 87, our mother achieved many accomplishments in her life. Bernice’s lifetime role was a bookkeeper for many large companies, and she volunteered her time with the Lacombe Legion. Athletic and competitive, she was an experienced Curler who played in many Bonspiels with her Baysville Ladies Team and won many trophies and prizes. She also enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, dancing, music, and travelling, and was an avid golfer. She met up with her lady’s poker group every Monday. Bernice was a free-spirited person who embarked on many lengthy travels with her spouse, Lee Smith. They travelled for many years in an RV to Ontario (Muskoka Glens Campground), and Arizona, making new friends, memories, and stories along the way. They made great friends anywhere they parked! Those that knew her well will remember the time they enjoyed and the memories they had made. Bernice also travelled to South Africa; Las Vegas, Nevada; British Columbia; and many other great destinations.
Bernice is lovingly remembered by her children, Mike “The Golden Child” (Rebecca), Lorri “It’s Complicated”, and Susan “The Brat”; step-son, Don (Terry) Smith; grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Christopher (Alyssa), Steven (Stacy), Andrew, Matthew, Allison, Lindsey (Terry), Brandon (Sarah), Lucas, Tyson, and Hailey; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kyle, Haylee, Codee, Ethan, Liam, Sean, Tyson, Amelia, Dallas, Baylee-Rose, Belle, Daisy, Miley, and Greyson; sister, Pat; nephew, Michael (Melanie); nieces, Sheree (Stewie, pre-deceased), and Corrine. Bernice rejoins her spouse, Howard “Lee” Smith; parents, Arthur and Harriet Dazé (née Laviolette); son-in-law, Jamie; sister, Pauline (Tom); brother, Reginald; and nephew, Thomas. Bernice was deeply proud of her family and dedicated all her free time to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
