Roger Gabriel Hermary passed away peacefully in Lacombe, Alberta, on Sunday May 3, 2026, at the age of 88 years. He was born on September 26, 1937, in Red Deer and grew up in a large family in North Red Deer as the middle child of thirteen children. Roger was a dedicated businessman and true entrepreneur whose life’s work reflected both determination and vision. From his early days as a Sears salesman, he built a reputation for hard work that would carry him through a lifetime of ventures. He found success in the restaurant and grocery businesses before purchasing a beautiful farm in Lacombe County in 1979. He took great pride in boarding thoroughbred racehorses for many years, with his later years focusing on raising cattle. His life on the farm brought him both joy and fulfillment. Through every endeavor, he was known for his dedication and drive. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his children, Larry (Alida) Hermary and Lisa (Shane) Lester; his grandchildren, Megan Works, Courtney Hermary, Brianna (Ryan) James, Sienna Hermary, Brooke Lester, and Ava Lester, as well as his sisters, Sister Harriet Hermary, Rosalie Kuhnen, Marie Hermary-Munroe; his brother, Philippe Hermary; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter, Johanne Hermary; his parents, Edouard and Lydia Hermary; and numerous brothers and sisters. A Funeral Mass in Roger’s honour was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 – 48A Avenue in Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception that followed.
