Mrs. Lorna Jean Clement (née Castella) passed away at the Red Deer Hospice Society on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 89 years. Lorna was born in Innisfail, Alberta on April 19, 1937. Lorna and her family lived in Dickson, Alberta until 1942 when they moved into Red Deer. Lorna took all her schooling through Red Deer, going into the recreation field after graduation. She worked in the gym at the Provincial Training School. Lorna met her husband Gary in 1957 while he was working as a young Mountee, they later married and stayed married for 45 years until Garys passing in 2005.

Lorna lived a very active lifestyle and found love with the sport of golf, even scoring 3 hole-in-ones! She enjoyed spending her winters in Mesa, Arizona, but she most enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially baking them her most wonderful pies!

Lorna spent a lot of her time volunteering at numerous places including the Red Deer Regional Hospital Center for many years, The Dickson Store Museum, The Danish National Museum, Camp Kuriakas and the mustard seed. She also spent a few summers volunteering on Eagles Wing, teaching bible study in the beloved Tuktoyaktuk which she kept very close to her heart.

Lorna and her husband Gary spent six years in the Arctic when Gary was in the RCMP, these years were very special to Lorna as she always cherished them.

Lorna lived in Radium hot springs for 18 years prior to moving back to central Alberta in the mid 90’s. She loved to travel and traveled all over the world as well as many visits to Denmark to visit cousins. Lorna often said she “had a wonderful ride!”, and so she had.

Lorna is remembered by her son, Bret (Sherry) of Dickson, Alberta; her sister, Carol Payne of Coquitlam, British Columbia; her sister Phyllis (Doug) Gillanders of Calgary, Alberta; her niece, Tana (Tod) McCoy of Lethbridge, Alberta; her nephew, Chris (Nicole) Gillanders of Calgary, Alberta; her nephew John (Larissa) Payne of Olympia, Washington; her nephew Jason (Sarah) Payne of Coquitlam, British Columbia; her grand nieces and nephews; special friend Lyle O’Brian of Red Deer, Alberta; as well as numerous family and friends.

Lorna is predeceased by her beloved husband Gary; her parents, Eva and Ejlen (Marc) Castella.
