PINDER, Frederick
1937 – 2025
Mr. Frederick Harry “Fred” Pinder of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 88 years. Fred was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, on September 2, 1937. Born with a strong sense of duty and adventure, Fred proudly served in the Canadian Army as a member of the Queen’s Own Rifles, 3rd Battalion, and wore the blue beret with honor. Following his military service, Fred brought his work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit into civilian life, successfully owning and operating three full-service stations. Never one to sit still, Fred was always up for an adventure. He made his home over the years in Manitoba, Calgary, and British Columbia, and enjoyed countless road trips between them. Later, he combined his creativity and business acumen by running a vinyl graphics, signs, and banners company in Eriksdale, Manitoba, known as Oakstone. Among all the places he visited, none held a more special place in his heart than Hawaii, where he shared unforgettable memories with his beloved wife, Shirley. Fred also spent time on a farm in Eriksdale, where he tried his hand at farming—first with cows, and later, with greater success, running a rabbit business. Fred was known and loved for being “set in his ways”—a certain kind of stubbornness that, lovingly enough, seems to be something of a family tradition.
