1937 ~ John (Jack) Patrick Sheridan ~ 2023 "Words cannot begin to describe the hole that is left in our hearts with his absence; his smile that filled a room, the twinkle in his eye, his joy of telling stories, and his love of his family will be missed the most."

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John (Jack) Patrick Sheridan on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the age of 86 years old in Edmonton, Alberta. Jack was born in Gort Ross, Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland January 22, 1937. He originally immigrated to New York in 1962 and continued to travel back home to visit family. Throughout the years he worked throughout America, Africa, Asia, Canada, various countries in Europe, Iraq, Iran in Pipeline Construction initially as a Crane Operator but was well known for being adaptable to any equipment or job. Much of his work brought him to Canada where he eventually settled in 1972. After many years working in the Oil & Gas industry, he decided to enter the hospitality industry as an Inn Owner. This brought him to Hay Lakes, AB and finally Didsbury, AB in 1986 where he stayed for 22 years. After retiring from there, he went on to reside in Edmonton. Jack is survived by his loving partner Teresa McManus. He will be lovingly missed by his son Grant Sheridan, daughter Annie (Sheridan) Karczmarczyk – Peter, and son Martin Sheridan – Michelle. He was adored by his loving grandchildren; Craig Sheridan (Jillian), Brenna Karczmarczyk, Kyra Karczmarczyk, John Sheridan, Martin Sheridan and was blessed with great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Parker. Also survived by Theresa Stellmach (mother of Grant) and Teresa McManus’s loving family; Sean (Jodi Hubler) McManus – Jillian & Luke, Kathryn Tomlinson – Moira, Siobhan, Ronan, Maureen (Dean) Stockman – Kevin and Michael. Jack is survived and was adored by his siblings and their families; Eileen Cosgrove – Ireland, Jimmy (Margaret) Sheridan – USA, Margaret (Peggy) Hoadley – Australia, Anne (Sean) McEvoy – England, Sabina (Stanley) Ling – England, Catherine Martin – Ireland, along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He is predeceased by his father Martin Sheridan, mother Mary Sheridan, sister Bridie Scanlon and brother Marty Sheridan – Ireland, brother-in-law John Scanlon, brother- in-law Joe Martin, brother-in-law Martin Cosgrove and former spouse Anne Boehlke. Words cannot begin to describe the hole that is left in our hearts with his absence; his smile that filled a room, the twinkle in his eye, his joy of telling stories, and his love of his family will be missed the most. A special mention to all those in Didsbury; Jack was loved by all who visited the Didsbury Inn, and the community. We are so grateful for the many memories and the years of friendship and kindness. At this time there is no service, there will be a family gathering in the future and he will be laid to rest in Ireland with his parents. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
