The family of Erna Laszlo of Red Deer, Alberta is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the age of 89 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, great aunt, granny, and friend.

Erna was born on April 7, 1937 to Rudolph and Freida Becker. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Wimborne, Alberta. Erna travelled to many places working various jobs until she met her husband, Robert, in Whitehorse, Yukon. Erna and Robert had one daughter together, Cindy Laszlo. Erna worked as a waitress for many years in Whitehorse and enjoyed raising her daughter, camping, fishing, and dancing the nights away with her husband. Their family moved to Penhold, Alberta in the 80’s, Erna worked at the Capri Hotel in the laundry and housekeeping departments. In 1993, they moved to Red Deer, Alberta where she enjoyed the working life, bingo, dancing, shuffleboard, gardening, and looking after her grandchildren. Erna worked until she was 78 years old and would have liked to work until she was 80, but she was diagnosed with a rare cancer that slowed her down to retirement. Erna had a spicy streak to her that made people laugh and you could find her dancing around, being silly with her friends, co-workers, husband, daughter and grandchildren.

Erna will be lovingly remembered by her loving dedicated husband, Robert Laszlo, her daughter, Cindy Laszlo (Joe Butryn), her grandchildren, Tayler Dearden, Nikita Dearden, Keisha Boutilier, and her great grandson, Mathius. She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Velda Calvert, her nephews, Kenny and Kevin Calvert and Randy Becker, her nieces, Laurie Becker and Susan Kutz. Erna was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Freida Becker, a brother, Rudy Becker and many aunts and uncles.
