It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alice Alvina Geiger (Aichele) age 89 years, who was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday August 21, 2026, while residing at Carewest Garrison Green Nursing Home in Calgary, Alberta.
Alice was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and was raised on a farm in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. Her life was a testament to quiet grace, faithful service, and unwavering devotion. She met the love of her life, Cecil, at the Nazarene Church in Saltcoats, and they were married on June 2, 1961.
Together, Alice and Cecil dedicated their lives to pastoral ministry, serving churches across Canada for more than 40 years in Mount Albert, Egypt, and St. Thomas, Ontario; Caroline and Calgary, Alberta; Prince George, British Columbia; and finally, Westlock, Alberta.
Alice was a hardworking and devoted wife, mother, friend, and member of her church communities. She was a pillar of strength to her family and to all those who knew and loved her.
Alice’s hands were rarely still. A talented seamstress, she sewed everything from Sunday dresses and quilts to countless mended items for neighbours and friends. Each stitch was an act of love, prayer, and care. When she wasn’t at her sewing machine, she could often be found tending her vibrant flower beds and vegetable gardens. Her green thumb brought life and beauty to her surroundings, and her love of gardening reflected the patience, care, and devotion that defined her life.
A gifted cook and baker, Alice delighted in creating delicious meals and treats for others. She especially loved cooking for other people—the more people she had to cook for, the happier she was. Feeding others was one of the ways she expressed her love and made people feel welcome.
Alice’s warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and church communities. She loved her children Dwayne, DeVerne, and Dawn with all her heart, as well as her seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Family was her highest priority, and her legacy is one of love, loyalty, faith, and service.
Every phone call seemed to start with, “Did I tell you?” and could easily continue for an hour. Those conversations, her stories, and her loving presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dwayne (Lea) Geiger, DeVerne (Lisa) Geiger, and Dawn (Glen)Workman (née Geiger), her beloved grandchildren, Keira and Aislin Geiger, Brodie (Jenn) Geiger, Taylor (Connor fiancée), and Carson Geiger, Riley and Mickayla Workman; and her great-grandchildren, Holly and Eva Geiger. She is survived by her brother, Irwin (sister-in-law Esther) Aichele of Calgary; her sister-in-law, Audrey (John) Stokoe of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and friends.
She was predeceased by her mother Huldina; her father, William; her loving husband Cecil; her brothers, Alfred, Helmut, Alvin, Walter and Ed; and her sisters Selma and Lorraine.
Rest peacefully, Mom (Oma). You will be missed more than words can say, but your love will live on in all of us.
