Mr. Douglas Mack Michael Makara of Red Deer passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the age of 88 years. Doug was born on November 21, 1936, to Doris and Mike Makara, in Drumheller Alberta, where he obtained his schooling. The family moved to Calgary in 1954, where he worked for Canadian Pacific Airlines Repairs from 1954 to 1964, and then, in the Pipe and Steel Industry in Calgary. He moved to Richmond, British Columbia in 1972. Doug and Mary retired to Vernon in 1991, moved to Bowden in 1994, and finally, to Red Deer in 1997, where they were involved in Property Management in several locations, until they retired in 2020. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary of Red Deer and a large extended family. Doug was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Murray and Roy, and his sisters, Frances MacDonald, Dorothy Pringle, Maxine Kidd and Mary Pearce.
