Mr. Arnold Frank Kubista, beloved husband of Mrs. Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Kubista of Red Deer, Alberta passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the age of 87 years. Arnold was born on November 22, 1936, in Canmore, Alberta. He lived and worked in Canmore as a coal miner until 1978, when he moved his family to Bonnyville, Alberta and became a farmer, working at various jobs in the Oil Industry. Arnold played hockey from a young age until he was injured in a mining accident. Then, he became a coach, first in Canmore and continued coaching in Bonnyville and Cold Lake, Alberta. He was a passionate fisherman and spent a great deal of time enjoying fishing. After retiring, Arnold and Betty moved to Bentley, Alberta where he became very active in the town. He continued to enjoy fishing, curling, playing horseshoes, carpet bowling and bocce ball, and served on various Boards in the Town. In 2022, Arnold and Betty moved to Red Deer, where they remained. Arnold cherished his family and many dear friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Arnold will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty, his son, Timothy Kubista of Gleichen, Alberta, his daughter, Mona Kubista of Bentley, Alberta, his stepson, Glenn Young of Red Deer, his stepson, Dale Young of Mirror, Alberta, his stepdaughter, Carol Danser of Mirror, Alberta, and his stepdaughter, Janet Collins of Red Deer, his eleven grandchildren and his twenty great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, Alana Faupel of Cochrane, Alberta, extended family as well as his many dear friends. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Father Frank Kubista, Mother Aino Woodley, infant daughter Christine and adult son Daniel. A Memorial Service was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Brenda Kersell Officiating. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
