It is with great sadness the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Harry David Fate of Olds, Alberta on January 12, 2026 at 89 years of age.
Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and son. Dave was special, honourable, and people looked up to him. He will be missed by family, friends and neighbours. Dave really enjoyed trail riding where he could spend quality time with his friends and family. He had a real love for horses and western movies. Dave was an avid reader and always enjoyed his coffee.
Dave graduated from Psych Nursing in Ponoka, where he married the love of his life, Geraldine McGeachy. He achieved his power engineering degree and went on to have a career with Mobil Oil. This took him and our family to Inuvik, Calgary and Olds. Eventually retiring on a farm at Innis Lake area SW of Olds.
Dave enjoyed curling, trail rides, horseback riding and camping in the West country. He loved to see his children and grand children playing hockey and other sports.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Quen and Del Fate, sister Sharon Scott and brother in law Oscar Wianco. He is survived by his sister Mitzie Wianco and brother Ken (Helen) Fate; children Greg (Norma) Fate, Dwayne (Allie) Fate, Kate (Steve Kearns) Fate and Murray (Lori) Fate: 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this year.
