Shirley Irene Boese
August 22, 1935 – April 30, 2025
Shirley Irene Boese passed away peacefully in Olds, Alberta, on April 30, 2025, at the age of 89.
Full of life and deeply devoted to her family and friends, Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love,
warmth, and service. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Wilfred, who predeceased
her in February 2024. She will be dearly missed.
Born in Swalwell, Alberta, to Harold and Irene Richardson, Shirley was the eldest of three
children and grew up on a farm southwest of Three Hills. In June 1955, she married Wilfred
Boese, and together they raised six children in Bowden. In their later years, they made their
home in the Seasons Communities in Olds. Shirley’s love for her family was boundless—she
raised her children with tireless energy, abundant love, and heartfelt dedication.
Shirley had many passions. She loved traveling, gardening, baking, and most of all, spending
time with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A natural
connector, Shirley maintained strong ties with her extended family, attending countless reunions
and preserving the family’s history with great care. Family gatherings were frequent and joyous,
filled with laughter, delicious homemade treats, and warm hospitality.
She was also immensely proud of her involvement with the Rebekah Assembly of Alberta. Her
years of service brought her immense joy, treasured memories, and friendships across the globe.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: Brenda (Matthew) Potts, Ken
(Linda) Boese, Gail (Wayne) Green, Cathy (Rob) Spicer, Gloria (Lorn) Anderson, and Debbie
(Kieran) Doetzel; her grandchildren: Meaghan (Amelia) Potts, Emily (Keillan) Potts, Colin
(Renee) Boese, Kristy (Adam) Stamp, Jenyse (Dennis) Perry, Travis (Melissa) Green, Jillian
Green, Kevin (Rachel) Spicer, Bonnie (Kent) MacArthur, Carmen (Mike) Badura, Crystal
(Travis) Fisk, and Kodie Doetzel; and her great-grandchildren: Elle & Ida Boese, Jack &
Summer Stamp, Keira, Colby & Vanessa Perry, Kaylee & Bow Green, Hanna MacArthur, and
Blake Fisk.
She is also survived by her brother Frank (Bonnie) Richardson, sister-in-law Peggy Reddekopp,
and brother-in-law Donald (Kathy) Boese. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, her
parents, and her brother George (Fran).
