LILLY, Myrtle
1935 – 2025
Mrs. Myrtle Noreen Lilly (nee Sutherland) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at the amazing age of 90 years.
She was the youngest of eleven children, born on March 5, 1935, in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, to Herb and Nellie Sutherland. Myrte went on to work in Regina, Saskatchewan where she lived with two of her sisters, Irene and Rose.
Myrtle met the love of her life, Bill Lilly, at a dance hall in Regina and married him on October 19, 1957. They moved to the Red Deer area shortly after they wed and lived in Blackfalds and Red Deer where they raised their family of three boys and two girls. She worked a short time at Valley Park Manor and went on to work at the Michener Centre looking after clients. This career was her calling, and she remained there until about 1993.
Myrtle enjoyed the Charters with her husband who was employed with Prairie Bus Lines and Greyhound. They shared many great memories and were able to travel to different points of call in several western Provinces as well as American States.
Following Bill’s retirement in 2003, they moved to Salmon Arm, British Columbia, where they enjoyed the freedom to travel at their own pace, and in 2013, they decided to make the move back to Alberta where they lived in the home that they owned until her passing.
Myrtle will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Darcy (Laura) of Summerland, British Columbia, David (Deborah) of Red Deer, Alberta and William of Red Deer, Alberta, and her daughter, Barbara of Red Deer, Alberta. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, BJ, Crystal, Christopher, Candace, Amanda, Brandon, Jessie, Noreen and Connor and her great granddaughter, Cara Lynn.
