Mrs. Hilda Mina Welygan (nee Spenst) passed away at Points West Living, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the age of 88 years. Hilda was born on April 27, 1935 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan. After completing her schooling, Hilda moved to British Columbia to work. It was there that she met Joseph Welygan. They were soon to be married and began raising their family of seven. Land was purchased in Alberta, and the family relocated. When the children began school, Hilda had a number of jobs but chose to work with the elderly as a Healthcare Aide. Hilda was very talented and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, and all sorts of crafts. Hilda was an excellent cook and always had a huge garden. She worked hard all of her life. Hilda will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three sons, Darwin, Owen (Terrie) and Todd, her three daughters, Debbie, Terri (Michael) and Jody, her grandchildren, Bradley (Trisha), Nicole (Clae), Daniel (Terri), Tyler (Sara), Joshua, Travis and Austin, and her great grandchildren, Malachi, Ellemae, Titus, Faith, Aidyn, Ryston, Hailey, Jack and Luke. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Mary, Kay, Nettie and Erna, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family. Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, her daughter, Bonny, her parents, her sister, Beth, and her brothers, Henry, Mute and Art. A Celebration of Hilda’s Life was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Hilda’s honor may be made directly to the Team Jigger Foundation at www.teamjigger.com.
