Mervin Orville Traub was born on April 17, 1935, in Alsask, SK to Harley and Glapha Traub. Mervin went home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Saviour, on October 1, 2025, at 90 years of age.
Because Harley was a pastor with the Missionary Church the family made many moves throughout the years spending time in Cremona, Sunnyslope, Mayton, Castor and Didsbury during the time that Mervin was at home.
He married Lucille Wiens on June 13, 1959. They had 4 daughters, Sharene, Wendy, Joyelle and Yvonne, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mervin and Lucille served as missionaries to Brazil for 25 years as well as pastoring churches in Alberta and B.C. with the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada. They enjoyed volunteering at James River Bible Camp, River’s Edge Camp and the Zion Thrift Store during their retirement years.
Mervin was predeceased by his daughter Joyelle, his parents, Harley and Glapha, his sister-in-law Hannah Traub, his brother Lavern and sister-in-law Doreen, his sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Ormand Sherick, his brother-in-law Fred Maetche, brother-in-law Howard Baughman, sister-in-law Kitty Wiens and brother-in-law Richard Wiens.
Mervin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucille, his daughters, Sharene (Greg) Pritchard, Wendy Fisher and Yvonne (David) Flinn, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, his brother Ken and sister-in-law Treva, brother Dave, sister Joyce Maetche, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wilf and Margie Wiens, sister-in-law Leone Baughman, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Debbie Wiens, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gordon and Joanne Wiens, brother-in-law Barry Wiens, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Grace Hamilton as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church in Didsbury, Alberta.
