Bill Wiper passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21 at the age of 88 with his family at his side. He leaves behind his wife Geraldine and his son Edward (Naomi) and his grandchildren Jacob, Aaric, Yannick, Maëlle and Marcus. He was predeceased by his parents John Lewis and Edith (Thompson) Wiper; his sisters Renee Bechdholt, Joan Goddard and Kay Blore; and his daughter Deborah Wiper. Bill was born in Olds on December 17, 1935. He grew up, worked and lived most of his life on the family farm west of Olds near Harmattan. Bill played baseball in his youth and loved curling in Olds, Sundre and Eagle Hill. He met his wife, Jerry, in a mixed curling bonspiel in Olds. Bill was a long-time member of the Olds Coop and served on the board during the time that the store relocated to its current location. A funeral service will be held at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Olds on Saturday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m. If you so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Mountain View Hospice Society or to a charity of your choice.
