MACOR, Clifford Trimble “Trim”
1934 – 2025
Clifford Trimble Macor, affectionately known as Trim, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 91, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in Red Deer, Alberta. Born on April 18, 1934, in Edmonton, Alberta, Trimble’s life was a testament to hard work, quiet determination, and an unwavering commitment to family and community.
As a young man, raised in Hope, B.C., Trimble embraced the demanding life of a logger in the forests of British Columbia, honing a strong work ethic. Drawn to opportunities in Alberta, he pursued higher education at the University of Alberta, where he supported himself by handling bookkeeping for his uncle Jud’s restaurant. It was during that time he met the love of his life, Donna Kay Otkin. The two were married on August 19, 1961, at Provost United Church, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 58 years until Donna’s passing in 2019.
Earning his designation as a Chartered Accountant (CA), they relocated to Red Deer in 1964, where Trimble built a distinguished career. Trimble co-founded and became a partner in the esteemed firm Anderson Macor & Co., which evolved into Anderson Macor Ladell Welty CAs, serving the Red Deer community for decades with integrity and expertise in financial auditing and estate trusteeship. His professional acumen was evident in roles such as interim trustee for estates, including notable cases in the late 1990s, where his meticulous guidance provided stability during challenging times. Beyond the ledger, Trimble was a pillar of civic involvement, co-chairing events like the Provincial Chartered Accountants Convention and supporting initiatives with the Kinsmen and the Red Deer Cancer Society alongside Donna. Trimble was also an entrepreneur who developed small businesses and real estate, and built the Village Shopping Plaza, with Jack Dzaman, Gene Watson and Alan Watson, which remains a significant shopping centre in Red Deer today.
Trimble cherished summers at Sylvan Lake and skiing at Canyon Ski Hill with his family, and winter golf escapes to Arizona with friends. He and Donna traveled extensively across Canada, Europe and Asia, fostering a deep gratitude for life’s adventures. Trimble is survived by his daughters, Janet Macor of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jean Macor of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; his son, Judson (Diane) Macor of the Caymans; five grandchildren: Chelsey (Cory), Shannyn (Graeme), Ryan, Kaden, and Emmitt; and two great-grandchildren: Weston and Eilidh.
Trimble Macor leaves behind a legacy of a life well-lived, rooted in love, service, and the enduring spirit of Alberta’s heartland. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the stories and successes of those he held dear.
A Private Family Celebration of Trimble’s Life will be held in accordance with his wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Red Deer Hospice Society at reddeerhospice.com/donate/ or to Sunnybrook United Church via e-transfer.
