It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Sanguin at The Hamlets, Red Deer on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the age of 90 years. His wife, Audrey of sixty-eight years, remained by his side until the end. Born in Saskatchewan on June 1, 1934, Bill spent his early years on the farm, where he developed a strong lifelong work ethic, and a wit and sense of humour that helped him easily connect with friends and strangers alike. Seeking new opportunities and the promise of work in the Oil Patch, Bill left the family farm when he was fifteen, and worked for Schlumberger, while in Weyburn and Estevan, Saskatchewan and finally in Red Deer, Alberta. By 1973, his Oilfield experience was instrumental as he struck out on his own and started A&B Hot Oil. The family moved to Brooks, Alberta, where the business thrived until Bill retired in 1991. For twenty years, Bill and Audrey wintered in Arizona, where they quickly immersed themselves in the activities the park offered. Bill became an astute shuffler, played cards on a regular basis and thoroughly enjoyed playing his Martin guitar at the country music jam sessions. His many “south of the border friends” never tired of the stories he told of his ‘’Oil Patch’’ experiences. In 2016, Bill and Audrey moved back to Red Deer to be closer to family. Bill was predeceased by three adult children, Darlene Goematt in 1994, Randy Sanguin in 2004, and Shannon Endersby in 2009. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Audrey Sanguin, his daughter, Leanne Jobagy and her two sons, Devon and Trevor and their father, Terry Jobagy, his son, Gerry (Jane) and their children, Jennifer (Kirk), Jodi Nesbitt (Patrick), Evan Sanguin (Kaye) and Keegan Sanguin, Darlene’s children, Tammy Goematt, Larry Goematt, and Jolene Frank (Adam), Randy’s children, Aaron Sanguin and Kyle Sanguin, Rick and Rick and Shannon’s children, Chad Endersby and Rodney Endersby, and his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family are very appreciative of the wonderful care given to Bill for the last year from the caring staff at the Hamlets (Sunnybrook). A Funeral Service was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
