To make things fair, he agreed to go horseback riding with her in the mountains in return. They made several trips to Hawaii, his favorite destination. Orville played the trumpet in the Red Deer College Symphonic Winds. He also had his private pilot’s license."

Mr. Orville Oxtoby passed away at Taylor Towers, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the age of 93 years.
Orville was born on July 22, 1933 at Innisfail, the youngest of four sons of Mabel and Milton Oxtoby. He attended school in Innisfail and at also at the Red Deer Composite High School. In 1954 he enrolled at the Olds College. While studying there, he was influenced by a fellow classmate who was going on to attend the University of Alberta and Orville decided to register there as well. He graduated in 1959 with a BSc in Agriculture. It was here that he met his wife of sixty-seven years, Margaret ‘Dandell’. In the fall 0f 1960 he obtained a job teaching at the Olds College. He was there until the spring of 1963 at which time he took over his father’s farm. He concentrated on growing grain and raising hogs. Farm life was what he really enjoyed.

Orville is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marg, sons, David (Louise) and Darryl (Jocelyn), his daughter Karen (Rick) Deschambault and the Oxtoby grandsons, Brett (Hayley), Jarrett, Carter (Emily) and Lucas. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, Ralph, Russell and George. At Orville’s request, no formal service will be held. If friends so desire, Memorial Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
