HOOPER, Ruth

1932 – 2025

Ms. Ruth Mabel Hooper passed away peacefully with friends and family by her side on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, at the age of 93 years. Ruth was born in Galt, Ontario on February 18, 1932. She proudly served as a Medical Assistant in the Canadian Air Force, achieving the rank of Master Corporal. Her military career spanned two periods of dedicated service: first from October 11, 1952, to October 10, 1957, and again from September 21, 1961, until her retirement on November 8, 1980. Following her time in uniform, she continued to serve her community as a devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion for an incredible 51 years — a testament to her lifelong support for veterans and their families.

Ruth is lovingly remembered by her brother, Robert “Bob” Hooker; her sister Judith Buitenhuis; her nephews Glen and Mark Buitenhuis, and Mike Hooker; and numerous dear friends. She rejoins her soulmate of twenty-five years, Karl Duchscher.

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the Cronquist Tea House on 4707 Fountain Drive #4, Red Deer. If desired, Memorial Donations in Ruth’s honor may be made to the charity of your choice, as she supported many causes in her life.
