Mrs. Vivian Mae Coston of Olds, Alberta passed away at the Seasons Retirement Community in Ponoka, Alberta on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the age of 94 years.

Vivian was born May 19, 1932 in Ribstone, Alberta and was the second of five children born to Frank and Isabella Ryall. Her early life started in the depression years, when asked later by her grandson Jarett how they survived, she always said she never knew we were poor. They lived with other families on the farm north of Ribstone. They moved to Winfield area where she attended school until her father went into the army and they moved back to the Chauvin, Alberta area. They survived during the war because her mother was able to do carpentry work and sell them.

Vivian later met the love of her life, James ‘Jim’ Coston at a dance in Buck Lake introduced by a very good and long-time friend. They married on August 20, 1956 in Winfield, Alberta later moving to Innisfail, Alberta and later to Olds, Alberta making it home. Mom worked at Central Alberta Florist for approximately 30 years. Always making sure Norm had flowers for Pat. Mom and dad always loved to travel all over in the many motorhomes and trailers making many friends in Yuma, Arizona, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Birch Bay, Alberta and many places in British Columbia.

Vivian will be lovingly remembered by her daughters; Gerry and Lea (Harold); her son Norm; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving spouse Jim; her son Wayne; daughter Jeannette; son-in-law Gary; daughter-in-law Pat; several grandchildren, family members, and many friends. She will always be missed.
