1932 ~ Mr. Verner Sandersen ~ 2023 "Verner was a special man and will be greatly missed by those who knew him."

Mr. Verner Sandersen passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Care Centre at the age of 91 years. Verner will be forever missed by his wife June of sixty-four years, her sons, Murray (Julie), Bruce, and Dale; grandchildren Janine (David) Amundsen and Matt (Kim) Sandersen; great-grandchildren, Connor and Erika Amundsen.
Verner was the third of four children born to Sigfred and Carla Sandersen, on August 14, 1932. He was raised in Standard, Alberta and spent most of his life living there, later moving to Red Deer, then Innisfail.
Verner was kind, caring and loved to spend his time surrounded by family and friends. Large family gatherings were common when they lived in Standard, and he was happiest with everyone home to share a meal. Verner and June had many happy years camping at Pine Lake and family members spending weekends there with them. Many card games were played, and his love of crib was passed on to his grandchildren, whom he taught the game to as soon as they could count.
Verner spent most of his adult life as a professional driver. He logged many miles in both semi-trucks and school buses. He liked the simple things: coffee, Pepsi, popcorn, jellybeans, cookies, turkey dinner, and Christmas and spent many hours watching all kinds of sports, particularly baseball and hockey. Verner was a special man and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the Innisfail Health Care Centre and Sunset Manor. At Verner’s request no formal funeral service will be held.
