Mr. Allan Orval Woitt passed away with his loving wife, Irene by his side, at the Red Deer Hospice, on Monday May 6, 2024 at the age of 92 years. Allan was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on March 17, 1932, to Reinhold and Hilda Woitt. He grew up on the family farm in the Falun area outside of Wetaskiwin, enjoying playing hockey and baseball. After deciding farm life was not for him, Allan chose a career as a Sheet Metal Mechanic and graduated with a Journeyman Certificate from SAIT, in the 1950’s. During this time, he spent a few years as a Reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces. Allan met Irene in 1953, and they were engaged and married within eleven months. They lived in Wetaskiwin, Ponoka and finally settled in Red Deer in 1962. Allan and Irene lived in their home for sixty-two years before Allan entered Hospice care earlier this year. Allan and Irene were devoted members of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Allan enjoyed curling, traveling, and old-time dancing with his sweetheart Irene. Gardening was also a passion and Allan had the most amazing garden. The family affectionally called it Papa’s Farmers Market. For many years, Allan and Irene had a seasonal camping spot at Pine Lake, where Allan taught his children and grandchildren how to fish. Allan’s favorite role was “Papa” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Allan will be lovingly remembered by his beloved and devoted wife of seventy years, Irene, his four caring daughters and sons-in-law; Debbie (Brent), Cherin (Randy), Susan (Calvin), and Diane (Rob), his nine precious grandchildren; Andrew (Aynsley), Brett (Kayla), Chris (Melissa), Jordan (Taylor), Sara (Kaine), Rachel, Jonathan, Rachelle and Tyler, and his ten adored great grandchildren; Shayne, Mason, Olivia, Garrett, Amelia, Adrian, Joelle, Dayzen, Nevaeh, Noah, and one baby on the way. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, Lillian Stollery, his three nephews and his niece. Allan was predeceased by his parents, his mother and father in-law, and his brother-in-law, Jim Stollery. A Funeral Service was held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Boulevard, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday May 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment was held at Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer County, Alberta.
