It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Doreen Kelly of Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Frances was born on April 22, 1932 to Everett and Nellie Wilton. She spent most of her life in the Great Bend District. After graduating from Great Bend High School, Frances worked for the Central Alberta Dairy Pool. She married Kaye in 1952, and soon became a homemaker and mother. In 1967, they moved onto their farm in the Great Bend District, where they raised five children. Frances always had a large garden and preserved lots of produce. Frances and Kaye farmed for over thirty years where Frances enjoyed and became proficient at driving the combine, grain truck and tractor. When they became empty nesters, Frances and Kaye enjoyed travelling in their motorhome throughout the United States of America, including Alaska, and eventually settled in Arizona for the winter months. After selling the farm, Frances and Kaye retired to their new home in Red Deer, Alberta. The draw of owning a boat and fishing found them spending their summers at a resort on Kootenay Lake, British Columbia. Frances was the fisherman of the family, and when she couldn’t be out on the boat, she loved spending time down on the dock fishing. Through the years, Frances also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and painting ceramics. Frances will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian (Charlene) Kelly, Brenda (Phil) Besler, Beverly (Brian) MacKinnon, Barbara (Ron) Waddell, and Becky (Miles) Lewis, her grandchildren, Shannon Kelly, Jennifer (Sam) Wyatt, Caitlin Besler, Meghan (Michael) Plooy, Troy (JD) MacKinnon, Taylor MacKinnon, Ryan (Amanda) Waddell, Kelly (Mark) Burren, Rory (Sydney) Waddell, Erin Gutsche, and Jena (Curtis) Lewis, her great grandchildren, Madeleine and Emma Wyatt, Henry and Harrison Plooy, Reid, Brenna and Cayson Waddell, Presley and Aspen Burren, Paisley and Oaklyn Waddell, and Emerson and Liam Gutsche. Frances will also be sadly missed by her sister, Shirley Sawyer, her sisters-in-law, Dalora Wilton and Marion (Gordon) Watson, her brother-in-law, Eldon Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her husband of sixty-five years, Kaye Kelly, her great grandson, Rhys Waddell, her parents, Everett and Nellie Wilton, her brother, Larry Wilton, and her brother-in-law, Richard Kelly. A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
