Mrs. Melba Irene Stuart (nee Saari) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at Extendicare Michener Hill, Red Deer on Monday, September 4, 2023 at the age of 92 years. Melba was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on May 27, 1931, to August and Elvira Saari. She enjoyed dancing, playing BINGO, going to Las Vegas, and spending time at the Casino with her husband, and other family members. Melba worked at the Michener Centre, (formerly known as Deerhome) as a Housekeeping Supervisor until her retirement. Melba loved her family dearly and was very proud of her beautiful family. Melba will be lovingly remembered by her seven daughters, Lynn (Norm) of St. Albert, Carol of Red Deer, Gwen of Okotoks, Pauline (Vern) of Okotoks, Doreen (Frank) of Red Deer, Kathy of Calgary and Colleen (Colin) of Blackfalds; her three sons, Ronald of Red Deer, Ken (Lyvonne) of Cherry Point, Oak Lake, Manitoba, and Ray (Donna) of Red Deer; her numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and her many other relatives in Ontario. Melba was predeceased by her husband, Ken; her daughter, Donna; her grandchildren, Richard, Tammy, Clayton and Blair; her great grandchild, Christopher; her parents, August and Elvira; her sisters, Lily and Ella; and her brothers, William ‘Bill’, Walter, Arthur, Erio, Ernie, and George. The family would like to offer their special thanks to Extendicare Michener Hill, especially the staff of Household 2100 and her fellow house mates for the care and friendship given to Melba during her stay.
