1931 ~ 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fredrick Albert ‘Fred’ Martyn at the Myron Thompson Health Care Centre, Sundre, Alberta on Sunday October 5, 2025 at the age of 94 years

Fred was born on January 24,1931 in James River Bridge, Alberta to Dick and Adeline Martyn, and raised on his family’s farm.

Fred Worked for fourteen years at Sundre Motors and then later became a truck driver for good friend Bob Miller; he later became a Battery Operator working in the oil fields throughout Alberta. After retirement Fred and Myrtle enjoyed their winters “down south” in Arizona.

Fred Will Be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-five years Myrtle; his three children, Rick and Wanda Martyn of Sundre, Alberta, Rhonda and Ted Nadeau of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Randy and Linda Martyn of Acme, Alberta; His six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Dick and Adeline Martyn, a sister May Martyn, and a brother Bill Martyn.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

If desired, Memorial Donations in Fred’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held at the Sundre Gospel Centre, 810 1 Street NE, Sundre, Alberta on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Tony Jordan presiding. A reception will follow at the Church.
