Abraham Zyderveld passed away on January 2, 2022 in the Olds Hospital & Care Centre at the age of 90 years. Abe was born April 6, 1931 in Hendrik Ido Ambacht, Netherlands to Leendert and Maaike Ayderveld. They came to Canada by boat in 1949 to Halifax then on to Taber where Abe worked in the sugar beet fields. He married Stella Plantenga in 1965. Abe worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for many years then helped build the Bowden Institution and finally worked for Olds Ford as a mechanic until his retirement. He was a kind gentle man who will be remembered for his great personality and conversations. He will be fondly remembered and great missed by his children Leonard, Margaret and Ron (Tricia); grandchildren, great-granddaughters and numerous relatives in Canada and Holland. He was predeceased be his wife Stella in 2018. A private family service was held with interment in the Olds Cemetery.
