Mr. Donald Melvin ‘Don’ Carritt passed away in Red Deer on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Don was born on November 20, 1930 at Bentley, Alberta, the youngest child of Rose and Fred Carritt. Don began his life on a farm in the Rainy Creek District, near Bentley, Alberta. As a teenager, he moved with his parents to North Red Deer. Don finished his High School in Red Deer, and went on to have many adventures. One of these adventures was creating and operating the first Red Deer Airport with Calder McKay, around the 1960’s. Don had a keen interest in flying; especially sailing on the air, in a glider. He was also an Airplane Mechanic. Don worked as a Millwright for Alpha Dairies, for many years. He enjoyed creating new things; such as making mugs from beer bottles, or cat litter from shavings. Don met his soul mate, Doreen Burke and they shared close to forty-five years together. Don will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Wendy and Karen, his granddaughter, Jennifer, his grandson, Jared and his great granddaughter, Haily. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, Helen Steel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, who miss him dearly. Honoring Don’s wishes, no Public Service will be held.
