It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mrs. Esther Horsburgh at her home, in Red Deer, Alberta, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the age of 93 years. Esther was born on March 14, 1929 in Vancouver, British Columbia and was raised in Calgary, Alberta. In her later years, she spent her life working alongside her husband, George, in Nanton, Alberta. When she wasn’t working, Esther loved shopping, gardening, playing cards and shuffleboard, camping, and visiting her family. Her favourite place to spend her time was the Royal Canadian Legion, faithfully participating in the Legion campout and meat draws every year. Esther’s favourite holiday was Christmas and she loved driving around to see all the Christmas lights and displays. Esther will be forever known and missed for her giving and loving nature. She will be lovingly remembered her children, Robert (Sue), Ron (Anne), Berdie, Jackie, Irene (John), Linda, Mark (Liz), Betty, Garth, Donna (Gus), Lil (Joe) and Julie (Ken); her stepchildren, Keith (Tammy), Anne (Richard), Helen (Merv), Chris and Gene (Irene), her numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Joan, Vi, Jo-Anne and Joyce. Esther was predeceased by her husband, George, her brothers, Doug and John, her daughter, Kathy and her son, James. Family and friends were invited to a gathering to celebrate Esther’s Life at her favourite place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 35, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
