Mrs. Alvina Wolf was born April 1, 1929 in Didsbury, Alberta. Alvina was the eldest of nine children born to Edward and Elsie Jans. In 1957 Alvina moved to Red Deer where she started a career in retail, working at Kresge’s in downtown Red Deer. In the spring of 1965, she met her “John Wayne”, Alex Wolf. After a short dating period of six months, Alex and Alvina were married on October 16, 1965. After the marriage, was the move to the farm in the New Hill District, northwest of Spruce View, and there began the life of a loving and devoted farm wife. Alvina proudly lived the role of Alex’s partner in life up until he was called to glory in October of 2015. In September of 1966 Russell was born and twenty months later in June 1968, Rhonda was born. Alvina loved farm life and her passion for gardening and growing flowers is unsurpassed. During the summer months you could always find Alvina’s floral bouquets on the altar at church Sunday mornings. Having two large gardens meant that the fall was busy canning and freezing, filling the cold room and freezers for the winter.
As Russell and Rhonda grew and became involved in a variety of sports, they had no bigger fan than their mom. Alvina was always very involved with the church, teaching Sunday School, leading bible studies, volunteering on numerous boards. Though living in the New Hill School District, the family lived only a mile from the Craig School District, giving Alvina the opportunity to be involved in both the New Hill Community and Craig Community groups. She was passionate about giving back to the communities that so
generously blessed her.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Russell (Anita) Wolf, and daughter Rhonda (Nick) Wasylowich, three grandchildren Katherine (Adam) Drysdale, Amanda (Ryan) Armstrong, and Garrett (Jacquelyn) Wolf and eight great grandchildren, as well as her two sisters, Ella Mitton, and Diane Brzak.
Alvina was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Alex Wolf, her sisters, Bertha Bartolovic, and Irma Waslow, her brothers Arthur Jans, Oscar Jans, Alfred Jans, and baby Jans.
