MORIGEAU, Ralph
1929 – 2025
Mr. Ralph Earl Morigeau passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 95 years. Ralph was born in Eckville, Alberta on December 25, 1929 and grew up in the Evergreen District. He moved to Red Deer in 1946 at the age of 16 years, working on farms until he was hired by the Canadian Pacific Railway on June 16, 1948. He started as a Fireman on steam engines, then progressed to an Engineer on steam and later diesel engines for 38 years, until he retired in 1986. Ralph had many adventures growing up and working on trains, which he loved to share. Ralph also met Gladys Walker in 1948, and they married in 1950 at the Gaetz Memorial United Church in Red Deer. They spent 7 years in Calgary, then returned to Red Deer in 1957. They had three children – Brian, who passed away in 1953; Dale (Sandra); Sharon (Ric) – and were married for almost 60 years until Gladys passed away in 2010. Ralph was a member of the Elks Club for years, and also enjoyed woodworking, Snooker, metal detecting, bicycling, skating, dining out, Cribbage, and family fun with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His stories and laughter will be very missed. There will be no funeral service held as per Ralph’s request. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
