It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of

Adrianus (Adrian) Johannes Slenders, who passed on September 12, 2026, at

the age of 97 years.

Adrian was born in Bergeijk, the Netherlands on March 4, 1929, and

immigrated to Canada in 1953. In the winter of 1957, Adrian returned to the

Netherlands to marry Juliana Verdegaal and together they returned to Canada

by steamship to make their lives in a new country.

Adrian was first and foremost a farmer. He loved animals and enjoyed working

the land. He and Mom by their example instilled in their children the value of

hard work and reused and recycled everything before that became popular.

Adrian was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His

family grew to include two children, two grandchildren, and one step

grandchild. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Juliana, daughter

Wilma (Victor), son Ron (Lois), his grandchildren, Robert and Reid, step

grandchild, Tylor, his brother Piet, his sister Mien and extended family and

friends in Canada and the Netherlands.

Adrian will be deeply missed by the family members and friends whose lives

he touched. His memory will live on through his family and the many stories

and memories they will continue to share.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Didsbury Bethany for

the exceptional care Adrian received while residing there. He made many

friends and was loved by both residents and staff.

His smile was welcoming and he was always glad to see you. No matter

how long you could stay to visit, he was grateful for the time spent together.

Adrian will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the

hearts of those who loved him. A public viewing and time of fellowship was held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Heartland

Funeral Services, 5226 – 46 Street, Olds, Alberta. If desired, memorial
