Mrs. Helen Mary Ireland passed away, on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the age of 93 years. Mom was born and raised in Central Alberta and prior to her marriage to Jim Ireland in 1957, she worked for ten years at Holmes Drug Store in Red Deer. In married life, she moved to the family farm in the Balmoral District just northeast of Red Deer, where she was a full partner in that pursuit. Her hands were always busy gardening, sewing, or knitting. Mom was the consummate facilitator; as she was always a willing encourager of her family’s endeavors. She somehow knew when you needed a hug and when you needed chastising. She was able to instill her quiet, patient and perfectionist way in those around her. She was the centre around whom the rest of us pivoted. Helen will be loving remembered by her sons, John and his wife, Allison, her grandchildren, Tom/Whitney, her great grandchildren, Sam and Sadie, and Calvin/Kelly; Bob and his wife Kim, and her grandchildren, Joe and Jeff. Helen will also be missed by her grandchildren Sarah, Addie, Tressie and their mother, Shelley. Helen was predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years, Jim (2019) and son, Donald (2016). The family wishes to acknowledge the care and attention Mom received at Villa Marie and from Dr. Hopfner for a lifetime of care. A Private Family Service will be held at Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta at a later date. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
