It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Edna F. Hardie (nee Offley) of Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the age of 93 years. Edna was born on November 23, 1928 in Little Stanney, Cheshire, England to parents, Elizabeth and Cecil Offley, the eldest of four children. Edna married John Francis Hardie on January 1, 1951 in Stoak, Cheshire, England. John and Edna had three children, Andrew, born in 1951, David, born in 1953, and Tricia, born in 1958. In 1978, Edna and John immigrated to Alix, Alberta where they resided until moving to Red Deer in 1997. Edna worked as a physiotherapist in both England and Canada and worked with the East Central Health District in Canada until she retired at the age of sixty-five in 1993. Edna was very creative. She was a lover of poetry and art and enjoyed sketching, painting with watercolors, and working with pastels. Edna was also an excellent needlewoman, having sewn several quilts and her daughter’s wedding dress. Edna will be lovingly remembered by her children, Andrew (Donna) Hardie, and Tricia (Steven) Neasham, her grandchildren, Jennifer Hardie, Janice (Brian) Tymkow, Richard Hardie (Tammy Nilsson) and their mother, Gillian Lightbown, Tafline Steen and her mother, Cynthia Julson, Oliver, Annabel, and Alexander Neasham, and her great grandchildren, Kirsten Hardie, and Paige, Kylee, and Ryker Tymkow. She will also be sadly missed by her siblings, Cecil (Sam) Offley, Shirley Littler, and Michael Offley, and their families, her sister-in-law, Catherine (Peter) Hardie-Wigram, and her many dear friends. Edna was predeceased by her parents, her husband, John in 2005, and a son, David in 2015. A private Funeral Service will be held.
