Esther (Blue) DeBord, née Neumann, passed away peacefully at Red Deer Hospital in the early morning hours of the 16th of July, 2023, at the age of 94 years. Esther was born on November 29th, 1928, in Richdale, Alberta, to Michael Neumann and Paulina Neumann, née Schmidtke. Esther had a life-long love of the art of television and movies. She would often have a tv show recording in one room and a second recording in another room at the same time. Her family wondered when she had time to watch them all. Until February of 2023, Esther was able to live independently in her condo in Red Deer. For many years, Esther spent time socializing with other residents of her condominium, working on puzzles, attending game nights, and taking part in other activities. Mobility issues caused her to move into an assisted living facility during her final months. Having been fortunate enough to find love twice in her lifetime, Esther is predeceased by Clarence Blue (1974) and Earl DeBord (1999). Esther enjoyed 26 wonderful years married to Clarence, raising two children and making their home in Alberta and later in Saskatchewan. Esther and Earl were very happily married for 24 years and lived in Amisk, Alberta. Esther is also predeceased by her parents and by her siblings, Erna, Martha, Margaret, Fred, Henry, and Hertha. She is survived by her loving family: son, Douglas Blue (Jan) of Estevan, Saskatchewan, and daughter, Karen Duduman, née Blue, of Red Deer, Alberta. She is lovingly remembered by Douglas’ children, Jody (Kevin), Darby (Corbett), Philip (Amanda), and Marvin, and Karen’s children, Harley (Sharon), Clarence (Kelsey), Doug (Shanneek), Tara, Shanna (Myles), and Cody. Esther is also survived by great-grandchildren Sydney, Jessica, Kate, Samantha, Charley, Marvin, Henry, Harper, Andrew, Charlotte, Matt, Tanner, Alexis, Paige, Nadia, and Markeice. As per Esther’s request, there will be no service. If desired, memorial donations may be made toto the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, in person or by mail at their office (3942-50A Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 4E7), by phone at 403-343-4773, or online at rdrhfoundation.com.
