Mr. James ‘Jim’ Reid passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the age of 96 years. Jim was born on August 17, 1927 in Ethelbert Manitoba. In his late teens, Jim moved to Alberta, where he lived and worked for over seventy-five years. Jim was a great husband, father and brother. Jim had a successful career in the Plumbing Industry that culminated with his own Mechanical Contracting Business. He had a lifelong passion for flying, obtained his pilot’s license and went on to build, restore and own various aircraft from an Aeronca Champ to his last Glider a Shempp-Hirth open class Cirrus. He enjoyed being an active member of the community. He was a member of the Alberta Mechanical Contractors Association, the Alberta Soaring Club and the Red Deer Masonic Lodge, to name a few. He will be missed by all. Jim is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-nine years, June, his daughter, Deborah, his son, Scott (Dorothy), his granddaughter, Carly Martin (Boris), and his great grandchildren, Luka and Aurora. He will be fondly remembered by his step grandchildren, Erikka Shepherd (Craig), Michael Nedelak (Justine) and their children, Nathan, Noah and Cash. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Dave Reid (Marylou) and his sister, Jean Erickson (Mel). Jim was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Reid (Judy).
