GRAHAM, Johannah M. (Joan)
1927 – 2025

Joan Graham of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at the age of 98, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the Rockyview Hospital. Joan was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and was the oldest of five children. The family moved to Calgary in 1941, where she continued her education graduating from St. Mary’s High School. As a single mom, she worked days in accounting and nights doing custom sewing. An accomplished seamstress she could make anything, wedding dresses, skating dresses, ski jackets, baby outfits, draperies and later in life, took up quilting. The family is blessed to have many of her creations adorning our homes. She was an avid gardener and gave away pots of perennials to many happy recipients. Her yard was her pride and joy and was always in immaculate condition. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. Her pie pastry and buns were legendary. Joan was a dog lover and throughout the years owned many dogs, including several championship Dobermans which she took to dog shows in her souped-up Ford Van. She lived her life with conviction, always keeping busy, and lived in her own home up until she entered the hospital August 4, 2025. Joan is survived by her daughter, Susan Gole, her grandchildren, Janine (Marilyn), Michael (Rhiannon), Kimberly (Andrew) her great-grandchildren, Makayla, Olivia, Vienna, Charlie, Emmett, Poppy and Dawson, and also by the Gole grandchildren, Jan, Dan, Paul, Jolene and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Kathleen Hussey, her four siblings, her daughter Jo-Anne Engelhardt, her son-in-law, Jim Gole and grandson Jason Gole. The family will hold a private service for Joan at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Heartland Funeral Services, Didsbury, Alberta.
