It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen (Kay) Jensen on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the remarkable age of 99 years.
Born on March 26, 1925, in Castor, AB, Kay was the youngest child of Wes and Lee Street. She grew up with a lively spirit that defined her long and meaningful life.
In 1944, Kay married Bill Stott in Olds, AB, where they built a life together and raised three
children. For 25 years, they owned and operated Stott’s Jewelry in Olds and later, Merle Norman Cosmetics in both Olds and Red Deer. Their life together was cut short by Bill’s sudden passing in 1969.
In 1971, Kay began a new chapter when she married Dal Jenkins and moved to Calgary, becoming the stepmother to his three children. Together, Kay and Dal embraced life’s adventures, traveling the world and spending cherished time at their condo in Victoria, BC. Kay had a gift for connection and never boarded
a plane without sparking a conversation and discovering shared ties or mutual acquaintances.
After Dal’s passing in 1994, Kay married Harold Jensen in 1996, gaining three stepsons and returning to Olds. They shared sixteen years together until Harold’s passing. Kay’s later years were spent moving between Olds and Calgary, always prioritizing time with her beloved family and friends.
Kay was a vibrant woman who enjoyed an active lifestyle. Over the years, she loved golfing, curling, knitting, sewing, quilting, and reading.Weekly pizza nights, card games, music, and dancing were among her favourite pastimes. Known for her infectious humour and unwavering positivity, Kay was a joy to be around. Her
home was always open, and she delighted in hosting family and friends.
A dedicated volunteer, Kay gave her time to the Holy Cross Hospital gift shop, Meals on Wheels in Calgary, and other various community organizations. She was an active member of the Royal Purple in Olds, sang with the Seniors’ Evergreen Choir, and was deeply involved in both St. John’s Anglican Church in Olds and St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Calgary.
Kay leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Cherishing her memory are her children, Trudy, Trevor (Kate), and Kathy (Tim); stepchildren, Steve, John (Anita), and Karen (Greg); as well as stepchildren, Philip (Kathleen), Alan, and Wayne (Carolyn). She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Christy (Bruce), Kevin (Sherry), Stefanie (David), Jonathan, Aislin (Dylan), Fraser (Charmaine), Kelly (John), Leslie (Mike), Matthew (Jill), Adam (Sabrina), Bryana, Robert, Nicolas, Caitlan, Alex, Erika, and Karl; along with her
great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.Kay also leaves behind her niece Wendy, nephews, Glenn and David, and their families.
