Nominations open for Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards.
Since its inception in 2000, 115 volunteers from across the province have been recognized through the awards program which honours the exemplary service of volunteers whose contributions have made a lasting impact on their communities.
Officials say six awards will be presented during a ceremony on December 5 marking International Volunteer Day with two awards handed out in each category of youth, adult and senior.
Government officials say the program aims to highlight the incredible value of the province’s volunteers and hopes to encourage a sustained commitment to civic participation amongst Albertans while inspiring others to make volunteering a part of their lives.
