EDMONTON- A heat warning is in effect for much of northern Alberta this week.

Environment Canada says there will be a prolonged period of daytime temperatures hit 29 degrees Celsius or above and minimum overnight temperatures will hover around 14 degrees Celsius in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and St. Albert.

Similar temperatures are expected in many communities around Edmonton, particularly those north of the city.

Residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves, their families and anyone who is vulnerable.
