Charges laid in stolen vehicle crash on Taylor Drive

RED DEER- A local man faces multiple charges after a stolen truck struck hit an SUV at the intersection of Oliver Street and Taylor Drive Friday evening.

The 78-year-old female driver of the SUV was sent to hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. RCMP do not have further information on the extent of her injuries at this time.

Two children, ages eight and six were examined at the scene of the crash by EMS, and released to their parents, uninjured.

Ryan Shane Schuster, 29, of Red Deer is charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and two counts each of failing to comply with conditions and failing to comply with probation.

During Schuster’s arrest, RCMP seized numerous pieces of identification including passports and driver’s licenses, a bag of vehicle keys, break-in instruments, a bag of costume jewellery and electronics from the truck.

Schuster appears in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday.
